Gates is currently the richest man in the world with a net worth of $79.3 billion dollars. Co-founder of Microsoft, co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as well as other high ranking positions with other enterprises. Born to a middle class family, Gates at an early age showed immense interest in computers and programming, finding bugs in the school’s computer to get free time on the computer. After scoring a near perfect on his SAT’s Gates went to Harvard University, he never really found a major, spending most of his time on the school’s computers. In 1974 he dropped out of Harvard to found Microsoft with Paul Allen. Always competitive, Gates continually built Microsoft into the biggest computer company in the world. Never being satisfied with where the company currently was in the marketplace. As his wealth grew he began a charitable organization with his wife, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. To date they have given away over $25 billion dollars to charity. Even with all the money he has given away, Bill still remains the richest man on the planet. Understanding that the more you give away, the more that you will receive in return. Even with all of the wealth that he has accumulated, Gates has never lost his roots and is usually frugal with his spending habits. His vision and work ethic helped technology become the basis for our advanced lifestyle today. A man who has made billions but has also given away countless billions. Bill Gates is truly one of the most powerful and influential people on the earth.
