Sunday Success Story

General Electric is one of those companies that everyone knows about, they are a conglomerate that have stood the test of time. Now GE makes everything from aviation to appliances to lightbulbs and even power sources. Jack Welch is one of those figures in GE’s history that made the company to what it is today. Welch during his tenure as CEO rose GE’s value by 4,000%. He was the CEO for over 20 years and was the driving force behind streamlining the GE name. He at the time implemented a new style of management called sigma six where the managerial tiers went from 28 to 6. At the time many people disliked Welch for this move because this new system closed down many companies and left many people without jobs. Welch had a string belief that you either had to be either number one or two in a given industry, otherwise it was a waste of time and resources. Welch expected the absolute best from his employees, giving them incentives to boost performance in all sectors. Welch was never satisfied with where GE’s current position was in the marketplace. He made over 600 acquisitions while at GE, either buying or burying the competition. One man took a company that was average and took it to extraordinary heights. Never limit the ceiling of what you can achieve for your life.
