Sunday Success Story: Nikola Tesla
One of the most forgotten and most underrated men in the history of mankind. Tesla was a man that was far ahead of his time. His concepts and inventions were thought of 100 years before becoming a reality. Tesla was the father of alternating current (AC), which is the electrical system used throughout the world today. As a young immigrant from Croatia, Tesla showed an early passion for science. His main focus was on electricity and the wonders behind it. Working for Edison, the two had different ideas about how to use electricity to light the United States. It was a battle between direct current and alternating current. They eventually became fierce rivals for the title of the king of electricity. Niagara Falls needed an electrical source to make a massive natural power plant, AC won out and Tesla became a success. Backed by funding Tesla experimented with several inventions that were deemed “crazy”. Some of these inventions were wireless electricity where anyone in the world would be able to get free electricity by sticking a metal pole into the ground. Another was a wireless telephone using waves through the air (the telephone only being invented a few decades earlier). Despite all of his bright ideas and ambitions to achieve them Tesla died poor, still trying to invent something that would change the world. Tesla was one of the greatest scientists in history and should not be forgotten from the pages of history. His contributions to society brought us to where we are today.
