The heavyweight champion at the time Mike Tyson was looking for a between fight bout with someone until he could fight a top contender. He found a fighter in Buster Douglas. He was considered a nobody, a bum who would be another quick knockout for the champ. Douglas was a heavy underdog to win against Tyson with most Vegas betting houses not even holding bets for the fight. Douglas was going through a tough time in his life, he was coming out of a alcohol recovery center, his wife was sick and his mother died a few days before the fight. Before his mother died she told everyone that Douglas was going to beat Mike Tyson. Buster Douglas had a decision to make, he could either lay down and die with his mother or he could shock the world. During the fight Buster Douglas got knocked down by Mike Tyson, no one ever got back up after being knocked down by Tyson. Douglas got back up and was saved by the bell. A few rounds later Douglas knocked out the champ and shocked the heavyweight world. After the fight Douglas said that he dedicated the fight to the memory of his mom, he had a reason to get back up. His knockout of Mike Tyson was considered to be the greatest upset in boxing history. Remember that even if the odds are heavily against you and your life may be falling apart that you can still knockout the champion. Have faith in yourself and you may go from a nobody to a champ.
